Why belonging is relevant

People seem to have a need to belong. They are attracted to other people and things like iron is to a magnet. To belong to another person is to be relevant to them. The usual word people use to describe this connection is “relationship”. I used to be so terribly confused by this word because a relationship is usually assumed to mean something romantic or sexual. My Facebook friends are certainly no help when they constantly change their “relationship status”. I think that there is much confusion about what a relationship is. Anything can be a relationship. I have a relationship with caffeine, food, as well as everyone I work with at Hy-Vee. Thinking about relationships is the same as thinking about what is relevant. That is how my irrelevant project began in the first place. To belong is to be in a relationship, to be connected, to be relevant.

I have unusual thoughts on almost every subject. I am as Pro-Life as I can possibly be. I am strongly opposed to violence of any type. That includes rape, war, and (obviously) abortion. Everything I think, speak, and write must be filtered by the effect it could have on the lives of others. If I am in any way promoting violence accidentally, please let me know.
