Why relationships are relevant

I do not like to use the word “relationship”. It is a word which is commonly misunderstood.

The word “relate” is a verb which means to connect with something. A “relation” is a noun by which is used to refer to a connection . It has the same meaning as “relevance”.

To say that something is “relational” is to say that is is “relevant”.

But where do we get the word “relationship” ? As you may know, a “ship” is a gigantic boat which floats on water. A relationship sounds like a big boat which carries a group of things that are related to each other.

When people talk about a relationship, they usually mean their connection to another person. I do not use this word often because it could be mistaken for a sexual relationship, because that is the most common usage of the word.

It is quite possible to have a relation, relationship, or relevance with more than one person. If you are in a relationship with someone, it probably should make all other relationships more relevant. If there is a conflict between your relationships, you may have to decide which relationships are most relevant to you.

I have unusual thoughts on almost every subject. I am as Pro-Life as I can possibly be. I am strongly opposed to violence of any type. That includes rape, war, and (obviously) abortion. Everything I think, speak, and write must be filtered by the effect it could have on the lives of others. If I am in any way promoting violence accidentally, please let me know.
